Approach and anchoring
Approach from the main channel of the rade de Brest. Sand and mud bottom, good holding. Sheltered from NW, N, W, SW and S winds, exposed to the E. Tidal streams run up to 3 knots through this part of the gulf, but the islet gives a good lee from the current, with a deeper pool of about 7 metres just behind it at low water. Watch for oyster beds marked by withies around the island.
Practical
No facilities on the islet. Arradon 0.6 NM to the north with pontoon, shops and slipway. Port-Blanc 0.8 NM to the west, ferry jetty for Île aux Moines.
Ashore
Arradon village with restaurants and a seafront path 0.6 NM north. Île aux Moines, largest island in the gulf, reached by ferry from Port-Blanc in 5 minutes, with a 17 km coastal walk around the island. An oyster bar lies close to the anchorage.
