Approach and anchoring

Enter the bay from the south between Beg-Meil and the Cabellou peninsula, plotting the run in carefully as rocks and fish farms lie off the shore. Sand holding in 2 to 5 m close to the beach; anchor behind the yellow buoys marking the swimming area. A marked channel lets a dinghy cross the bathing zone to the beach, but the route is scattered with rocks, so follow a chart. Sheltered from N, NE, E and SE, exposed to southwesterlies rolling in from the Glénan channel.

Practical

Forain anchorage, no mooring buoys. Concarneau fishing and marina port 1.1 nm SE, Cap Coz 1.6 nm NW. Water and fuel at Concarneau marina.

Ashore

Sables Blancs beach, 600 m of fine sand, lifeguarded in summer. Behind the sand are a beach bar, restaurants, a creperie and a pharmacy, but no food shop, so head into Concarneau for provisions. The Crêperie du marina is good value. Sentier côtier GR 34 along the shore leads east to the walled town of Concarneau, Ville Close, in about 30 minutes on foot.
