Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south through the buoyed channel leading to Concarneau. The bottom is sand, turning to eelgrass in places where holding is only modest, and room is tight, with a channel down the middle and moorings on either side. Visitor mooring buoys have been laid; the Concarneau harbour office treats the cove as a protected area and may ask anchored boats to move into the port, so pick up a buoy or call ahead on VHF 9. Shelter from E, SE, S and SW under the lee of the shore, exposed to the westerly and north-westerly sectors.
Practical
No services at the anchorage itself. Port de Plaisance de Concarneau is 0.5 nm north with fuel, water, showers and visitor berths. Cap Coz harbour on the opposite side of the bay is 3.1 nm NW.
Ashore
Concarneau old town, the Ville Close inside its 14th century fortified walls, is reachable on foot or by dinghy in 15 minutes, and a small foot-ferry crosses to it for about 2 euros each way. Plage du Cabellou lies close by. Musee de la Peche inside the Ville Close. Daily market on Place Jean Jaures on Mondays and Fridays.
