Sandy anchorage off the Issambres coast between Saint-Aygulf and Sainte-Maxime, in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east across the gulf. Sand bottom with good holding on the clear patches, in about 5 to 7 metres. Outer yellow buoys mark a 5-knot speed limit and inshore yellow buoys a swimming area, with room to anchor on sand between the two. Protection from SW, W and NW winds. Exposed to the east and to swell from the open gulf, so untenable in easterly weather.

Practical

No services at the anchorage itself. Port de San Peïre Les Issambres lies 0.8 nm to the NE for water, fuel and provisions. Port de Sainte-Maxime sits 2.1 nm to the SW with full marina services.

Ashore

The restaurant Les Éléphants sits on the beach opposite the usual anchoring spot, with cafes and small shops within 200 m along the Issambres seafront road, from which some traffic noise carries. Coastal footpath from Les Issambres to San Peïre along the shoreline.
