Approach and anchoring

Entry from the NW between the rocks of Le Relec and Petite Fourche, then follow the buoyed channel of the Aber Benoît southeast. Mixed bottom of sand, rock and mud; use the provided buoys rather than anchoring on foul ground. Strong tidal streams through the narrows on the flood and ebb.

Practical

Pick up a visitor buoy rather than letting go of an anchor, as the bottom is irregular. Mooring buoys run at around 18 euros a night, though some crews report no charge. A freshwater tap stands on the east bank and the harbour office gives access to toilets. Saint-Pabu village lies 0.2 NM to the SE with a slip, a small supermarket and a bar. The hamlet of Vill is 0.3 NM to the NW.

Ashore

Oyster beds of the Aber Benoît are cultivated along both banks and can be visited at several producers around Saint-Pabu, among them the Prat Ar Coum beds of Yvon Madec at the head of the aber; the aber mussels are sold locally too. The restaurant Le Thalassa is at Saint-Pabu. The GR 34 follows the north shore of the aber towards the dunes of Sainte-Marguerite, about 3 km downstream.
