Mooring in the ria of the Aber Wrac'h, north-west Finistère, close to the village of Perroz.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter the Aber Wrac'h from the Libenter buoy on the marked channel, then follow the river past the Ile Cezon. Menez Perroz lies just before the main moorings, on the south bank. Anchor in the middle of the channel on mud, which holds quickly and well; it shelves steeply either side, so at high water the ria looks roomy but shoals fast. Stay by the big white buoys and drop just beyond them, laying 30 metres or more of chain. Sheltered from all sectors once inside, though the stream reverses through 180 degrees and boats swing hard on the ebb at springs.
Practical
No services at the mooring itself, though there is a water tap ashore and a small beach landing beside the house in the corner. The Port de l'Aber Wrac'h lies 0.8 nm west with visitor pontoons, fuel, water, showers and a harbour office on VHF 9. Perroz village, 0.4 nm north-west, has a bakery and small restaurant.
Ashore
A good dinghy trip runs up to the Port de Paluden, where a creperie overlooks the river. From Paluden it is a 2.5 km walk to Lannilis for groceries and bakeries. The dinghy also reaches the Aber Wrac'h village easily and on up the river.
