Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from seaward follows the buoyed channel of the Aber Wrac'h, entering between the Libenter west cardinal and the Petit Pot de Beurre green beacon. The channel runs ESE toward Toull an Trebez. Strong tidal streams up to 3 knots on springs; plan arrival near slack. Sand bottom with good holding once clear of the channel. Oyster and shellfish beds lie around the anchorage and show at low water, so pick a clear patch.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no service. Shelter from NE, E, SW, S and SE winds; exposed to the NW swell entering the aber. The rocks that shelter it cover at high water, when the swell reaches in and it rolls, so it is calmest around low water. The port of L'Aber-Wrac'h 1.4 NM SE run by the SAGEMOR syndicate provides visitor moorings, fuel, water and the harbour master on VHF 9. Perroz anchorage 1.7 NM SE offers an alternative further up the aber.
Ashore
The GR34 Breton coastal path crosses the shore above the anchorage. The chapel of Notre-Dame-des-Anges at Landéda stands 1 km inland. The Sainte-Marguerite dunes with the Iliz Koz archaeological site, a medieval parish buried by sand in the 17th century and rediscovered in 1955, lie 2 km west by footpath.
