Approach and anchoring

Narrow entrance channel between two jetties, head NW, with as little as 1.3 m over the sandbanks in the outer harbour. Keep clear of the green buoys marking the commercial deep-water entrance nearby. Max draught 2 m. The berth just inside the entrance sits in the path of passing craft. Exposed to southerly swells, uncomfortable in strong onshore wind. VHF 9.

Practical

200 berths, water and electricity on the pontoons, toilets and showers ashore. Visitor space is limited, so book ahead. Berthing is dear, around 43 to 54 euros a night for a 10 m boat in season. Jet-skis pass through much of the day and a nearby open-air disco plays in the evening, quietening by late night. A Spar and other shops and restaurants line the seafront within 200 m.

Ashore

Long sandy beach of the Lido running north to Sète, accessible on foot. Oyster tables of the étang de Thau 1 km inland, tastings along the D51E. Coastal cycle path to Sète, 15 km NE.

Story

The Lido de Sète was reshaped in 2017 by the Conservatoire du littoral, which moved the coastal road inland to protect the dunes.
