Approach and anchoring

Call on VHF 9. Marina boatmen meet arriving boats by dinghy outside the harbour and assist until moored, including in strong wind. Boats are packed close together in high season. Wash from fast motorboats and ferries in the channel towards Santo Stefano rocks the pontoon by day and eases in the evening. A berth near the start of the pier took rough water in a force 7 in July 2026.

Practical

There are no toilets or showers on site. The nearest are at the old port, next to the fuel station. Water and electricity are on the pontoon, with low water pressure in July 2026. Rubbish and sorted recycling are collected from the boat twice a day. In June 2026 no staff were on duty after sunset and the pier gate stayed open.

Ashore

The pontoon opens onto the centre of La Maddalena. A Conad supermarket lies about 400 m away along the road to the harbour. Dettori Market delivers groceries to the boat. A craft market filled the next-door piazza every night in July 2026. Marachella Pizzeria has a bakery next door. Scooter hire is available for touring the island.
