Guide
Approach and anchoring
Bottom of rock and kelp, holding unreliable. Room is very tight, so drop in the centre of the calanque in 10 to 16 metres and back down, keeping clear of the rock that closes in on both sides. Sheltered from NW through E, exposed to S and SW swell, and the Mistral funnels along the cliffs. Even a light E or SE wind sends in a swell that swings a boat all night, so it works best as a daytime stop.
Practical
Day anchorage for swimming under the ochre cliffs. La Ciotat Port Vieux lies 0.7 NM NE, Nouveau Port de La Ciotat 0.9 NM NE for overnight berthing and all services.
Ashore
The cove is a known dive site, with an underwater cave at the foot of the Bec de l'Aigle and climbing on the conglomerate rock of the cliffs. There is no landing, as the calanque is closed off by cliff on the landward side.
