Sand beach anchorage in the Baie des Lecques, on the western edge of the Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer shoreline, sheltered from the mistral by Cap Sicié to the east.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, clear of the beach markers in season. The bottom shoals fast, around 2 metres some 100 metres off, so anchor 150 to 200 metres out near the yellow markers in 4 to 5 metres of clean sand with good holding. Shelter from N to W, open to the SE where swell builds in easterlies. Anchoring may recently have been banned across the whole zone, so confirm the current byelaw before dropping. Nouveau Port des Lecques lies 1.4 NM east as refuge.

Practical

Forain anchorage. Visitor berths, water, diesel and chandlery at Nouveau Port des Lecques. An Aldi supermarket is about 200 metres from the beach for provisions. Beach lifeguard post and sanitary block in summer, at the top of the beach.

Ashore

Roman villa and museum of Tauroentum 400 m inland, with 1st century mosaics. Sentier du littoral climbs westward to the cliffs of La Madrague and reaches Bandol in about 9 km. SNCF station at Saint-Cyr-les-Lecques-La Cadière serves Marseille and Toulon.
