Approach and anchoring

Approach through the rock-strewn waters north of Plouguerneau. Careful pilotage is required, following all the channel buoys and passing between the rock and a port-hand pole about 50 m apart; the tidal range is large, so deep-draught boats should time their entry. Anchor on sand, and a little further out to stay afloat as the inner part dries near mid-tide. Protection from W, SW, S and SE. Fully exposed to the northerly swell that builds quickly with N to NE winds.

Practical

Club Nautique de Plouguerneau 0.2 nm to the west, Perroz slipway 2.5 nm to the SW. Shops in Plouguerneau village, about 2 km inland.

Ashore

Sentier des douaniers GR 34 runs along the coast above the anchorage, heading east to Lilia and the Phare de l'Île Vierge in 4 km. The lighthouse, commissioned in 1902, is the tallest in Europe built of dressed stone at 82.5 metres.
