Approach and anchoring

Access from the Saône navigation channel. Maximum draught 1.6 m at the pontoon, which is shallow, so sound the way in. The pontoon lies next to the passenger péniche mooring and takes wash from passing powerboats. No lock on this reach, the stretch is continuously navigable.

Practical

Provided free by the town of Mâcon for boats up to 25 m and up to three nights, with room for about five or six and one end kept for hire boats. No services on the pontoon, but a water point sits about 75 m away under the trees, and a gated security fence closes the access with its code posted at the lock. Saint-Laurent pontoon 0.4 NM NE and Mâcon main quay 1.5 NM NE for more capacity and town services.

Ashore

Mâcon town centre and quays of the Saône within walking distance. Cluny abbey reachable by road 25 km west. Maconnais vineyards of Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran begin 10 km west of the river.
