Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Saône navigable channel, coming up from the south against the current, as a sandbank lies off the north end. The pontoon sits on the Ain side of the river, directly facing the Mâcon quays. Watch for commercial barge traffic on the main channel.

Practical

Free pontoon run by VNF, with no water or electricity, and a stay limited to 36 hours. It can be noisy at weekends by the nearby bars. Halte Nautique of Saint-Laurent 0.4 NM to the south-west for additional services. Shops, restaurants and full services in Mâcon across the river via the Saint-Laurent bridge.

Ashore

Mâcon town centre reached on foot across the Saint-Laurent bridge, about 10 minutes walk. Maison de Bois on the place aux Herbes, a timber-framed facade from 1490. Musée des Ursulines with archaeology and fine arts collections. Mâconnais vineyards start at the western edge of the town.
