Approach and anchoring

Approach by the Saône, a Freycinet-gauge waterway with no tidal constraint. Left bank moorings for pleasure craft, calm current outside flood periods, though the berths are a little exposed and waterskiing raises wash through the day until it falls calm in the evening. The river is navigable year-round between Lyon and Corre, with locks operated by VNF.

Practical

Modern pontoon with mooring, water and electricity free of charge, though the power is intermittent and unreliable and the jetty water is not drinking water; mobile signal is patchy. Dry-storage and cranes for small and mid-sized hulls at the local yard Nautic Auto. Shops about 2 km away in the village. Full supermarkets, chandlery and rail station at Mâcon, 10 km north.

Ashore

A bar and restaurant stands beside the pontoon. Crêches-sur-Saône sits inside the Mâconnais wine area. The hamlet of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay and its Beaujolais and Saint-Véran vineyards are within 4 km on foot or by bike. The Voie Bleue cycle route along the Saône passes through the port, giving a flat 10 km ride up to Mâcon old town and its Saint-Pierre church.
