Approach and anchoring

Open approach from the west with no off-lying dangers. Anchor over sand off the northern part of the beach, level with the yellow buoys, in 4 to 8 metres, clear of the river outflow. Shelter runs from NW through N and E to SE; the bay is fully open to the SW libeccio and swell often works in overnight, so it suits a day stop better than a night, with deeper bays nearby giving calmer anchorages. Passenger speedboats run from Tiuccia and throw wake across the bay by day.

Practical

Mooring buoys lie across the bay, a buoy running around 41 euros for an 11 m boat, but there is room to anchor free on good sand just outside the 300 m swimming zone marked by yellow buoys, clear of the white mooring buoys. Ashore is limited to a summer beach bar with cold beer and pizza. Nearest fuel and provisions at Port de Sagone 4.6 nm NW or Port Charles Ornano in Ajaccio 7 nm S.

Ashore

Sandy beach of Liscia stretches roughly 1 km across the head of the bay, backed by maquis. Footpath follows the river upstream for birdwatching along the brackish reedbeds.
