Approach and anchoring

Open approach from the west. Sand bottom with good holding. Boats anchor in 8 to 10 m alongside the mooring buoys, on the 300 m beach limit line; a municipal by-law restricts anchoring in less than 10 m of water. As the head of the gulf it rolls in any swell. Sheltered from E to SE through S and SW; exposed to the prevailing W and NW swell of the gulf. Libeccio brings heavy seas and requires leaving the anchorage.

Practical

A field of paying mooring buoys is laid off the beach, roughly 38 to 60 euros a night. Booking and a free shuttle ashore by phone on +33 6 09 49 70 03. Port de Sagone 4.7 NM to the NW for fuel, water and berths. Port Charles Ornano at Ajaccio 6.7 NM to the S for full services.

Ashore

Sandy beach backed by maquis, with loud music from the beach at night. A SPAR supermarket is about a 5 minute walk from the pontoon, and the A Stonda pizzeria ashore is well regarded for cheap pizzas. Tour de Capigliolo, a 16th century Genoese watchtower, stands above the neighbouring Capo di Feno headland.
