Sand-bottom anchorage off Cap Léoube, between Bormes-les-Mimosas and La Londe-les-Maures, within the Natura 2000 perimeter of the Îles d'Hyères coast.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, rounding the headland clear of the offshore reefs. The cove is small, room for only one or two boats. Anchor on sand near the entrance in about 5 metres; inside it shoals, pebble patches rising to about 1.7 m among 2.5 m of sand, with rocks awash off the east side. Shelter from N through E and NW, exposed to the south and to the south-westerly swell of the libeccio. Well sheltered but rolly in the mistral.

Practical

Wild anchorage with no services. Closest ports are Port Maravenne and Port Miramar, both 2 nm west, with water, diesel and chandlery.

Ashore

Sentier du littoral passes right behind the beach and leads west to the salt marshes of the Salins des Pesquiers and east to Cabasson beach at 1.5 km. Château Léoube winery, producing Côtes de Provence AOC rosé, stands 800 m inland from the anchorage.
