Sand-bottomed cove on the south shore of the Golfe de Valinco in Corsica, 2.4 NM northwest of Propriano, sheltered from NW to NE winds.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Golfe de Valinco, a wide opening on the west coast of Corsica between Campomoro and the Cap de Porto Pollo. Close the coast on the way in, with no off-lying dangers, but note a rock about 10 metres off the beach carrying only some 2 metres. Anchor on clean sand in about 5 to 6 metres. Exposed to the libeccio from SW, untenable in a building swell from the open gulf.

Practical

Anchorage only, no services. Port de Propriano 2.4 NM SE with fuel, visitor berths, water and electricity. Porto Pollo 2.9 NM W on the north shore of the gulf also offers visitor moorings.

Ashore

Plage de Cala Piscona, a sand beach backed by maquis, lies at the head of the cove, with a natural pool in the rocks at one end. Coastal path towards Campomoro southward through Natura 2000 maquis. The Genoese tower of Campomoro, one of the largest on Corsica, stands 7 NM SW.
