Guide
Approach and anchoring
Bottom of muddy sand and weed, with unreliable holding. A yacht dragged three times in an easterly in 2021, and another four times in 48 hours in June 2026. In 2023 an anchor balled up with mud and would not set. Drop on clear sand. Two large rocks with 1.7 m over them lie in the southern part of the bay. Follow the chart closely, as shoals lie about. Cala di Trana, across the water, served as an alternative in 2023.
Practical
A small pontoon takes RIBs and dinghies. A bus stops at the cove and runs to the main town and on to the next island, 1.50 euros a ride in 2022. A supermarket, a restaurant and fuel were about 15 minutes away in 2020. No rubbish bins in 2026.
Ashore
In 2026 the Bluebay restaurant was open ashore, and the shops of La Maddalena town were within a 10-minute walk.
