Approach and anchoring

Anchor in 6 to 7 m on sand patches, which show clearly among posidonia and stones. In June 2026 one spot had only a thin layer of sand over rock, and the anchor dug in partly. Quieter spots lie towards the fish farm, away from day boats near the beach. Olbia ferries and passing traffic send wash through the anchorage. Easterly swell can enter. The bay was exposed in a westerly in September 2025. Boats may not land on the beach.

Practical

Day boats, kayaks and paddleboards fill the bay, and most leave after 5 pm. Wasps swarmed boats at mealtimes in July and August 2025. Rubbish bins stand on the southern beach. Party boats played music late into the night in May 2026.

Ashore

A path climbs from the northern beach to the old semaphore, about an hour on foot, with a wide view from the top. Guglielmo Marconi sent a wireless message to Rome from the semaphore. Isola Tavolara is in view from the anchorage. Dolphins are often seen near the fish farm in the bay. In 2025 a marine conservation programme ran snorkelling trips with a marine biologist.
