Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south along the Bouches de Bonifacio, the coast steep-to with deep water close in. Sand and rock bottom, holding variable. A sand patch in the middle of the cove in about 4 metres gives the cleanest hold; rock elsewhere has fouled and lost anchors, so set on the sand. Better suited to smaller craft. Open to the south, use only in settled N to E winds. No lights or buoyage inside the cala.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Bonifacio harbour lies 2.9 NM east for fuel, water, provisioning and full berths. Libeccio from the west is the main concern on this coast and builds fast.
Ashore
The cala sits below the Bouches de Bonifacio cliffs, part of the Réserve Naturelle des Bouches de Bonifacio. The GR20 trailhead at Conca is far inland, but the coastal path from Bonifacio citadel runs along the clifftops to Capo Pertusato lighthouse 3 km east of the town.
