Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south on sight, the coast steep-to and clear of dangers. The cove is narrow with room for only a few boats, so a line ashore to the rocks, some fitted with rings, is all but essential and crews lie fore and aft. Drop on sand in 4 to 8 m near the beach, where holding is good, but do not push far in as it shoals fast to about 1,2 m, and the deeper part is thin sand over rock that holds poorly once the wind rises. Open to swell and gusts from the south and east, sheltered otherwise. Tour boats stream past fast from about 9.30 to 6, so keep the passage clear; the evening turns quiet.
Practical
Mouillage forain on sand, good holding. No services ashore. Commercial Marina of Bonifacio 1,1 NM E and Port de Bonifacio 1,3 NM E for fuel, water and provisions.
Ashore
Waymarked paths climb from the beach to Bonifacio, a shorter one of about one to one and a half hours passing the Glénans sailing huts, and a longer coastal route of two to two and a half hours by the Madonetta lighthouse. The going is stony, so closed shoes are needed, and are compulsory for the King of Aragon staircase. In calm water the Sdragonato sea cave lies about 200 m off by dinghy, with Bonifacio an easy tender run.
