Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from offshore in settled weather and anchor in close under the land, where the hook sets quickly. The bottom is sand and weed with rocky patches, so check the anchor is well in. Sheltered from N, NE and E, so boats can lie close to the beach; open to the S, SW and W, where a west swell rolls in. It stays busy in July but there is room.
Practical
No services at the mooring. Port de Saint-Gildas lies 0.7 NM to the north-east and Port de l'Argol 4.3 NM to the south-east for water and provisioning.
Ashore
Land a light dinghy or kayak on the sandy beaches close inshore; the smaller coves need a rocky scramble up onto the plateau of Houat. A small village with a shop and a creperie lies about 5 minutes on foot.
