Approach and anchoring

Canal du Midi reach between écluse d'Argens upstream and écluse de l'Ognon downstream. Maximum draught 1.4 metres on the canal, air draught 3.0 metres under the bridges. Managed by VNF, speed limited to 8 km/h. Traffic is one-way through each lock.

Practical

Fleet base with pénichettes for weekly hire. Water, electricity and pump-out at the base pontoon, reserved for Locaboat clients, though visiting crews can ask the base for a berth and the use of its sanitary block. Free passing moorings on the quay below the village. Bread delivered to the boats in season. A small grocery and café at Roubia, a short ride by bike, helps for provisions. Carcassonne lies 42 km upstream by canal.

Ashore

Château d'Argens, a 14th century fortified house, stands above the village 300 metres from the quay. A guinguette beside the base serves generous meals. AOC Minervois vineyards surround the port and several domaines offer tastings within 2 km. Homps port 2.8 NM NW is the next supply stop with larger shops.
