Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east, between the Pointe des Fourmis and the beach. Sandy bottom with patches of Posidonia, so pick the clear sand in 5 to 8 metres and avoid the weed, holding only fair. Anchor in the marked zone behind the 300 m swimming buoys, which is reserved for craft under 20 metres. Sheltered from NW through W to SW but fully open to the E and SE swell, and even in calm it rolls from the wash of yachts running between Saint-Tropez and Monaco, worst by day and easing at night.

Practical

Land the tender at Port des Fourmis by prior arrangement with the harbourmaster, day only as the gate is closed at night, or at Beaulieu harbour or Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat with permission, and small pontoons in the bay serve for quick drop-offs. Water tap on the quay of Port des Fourmis, 0.2 NM to the N. No fuel berth in the bay. All shops, restaurants and the SNCF station of Beaulieu-sur-Mer within 300 m of the shore, with a Super U by the station.

Ashore

Promenade Maurice Rouvier footpath along the coast to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in about 1 km. Villa Kerylos, a reconstruction of an ancient Greek house built in 1902 by the archaeologist Theodore Reinach, sits directly above the beach. Casino and old town of Beaulieu 200 m from the anchorage.
