Approach and anchoring

Approach from the gulf with Marina di Fiori on the port side. The bay is shallow and the bottom is now mostly weed and mud, with little clear sand left and much of it taken by private buoys, so holding is unreliable and boats have dragged and grounded even at 25 knots. For a stay, set the anchor slowly with plenty of scope and check it well. Deeper-draught boats struggle for room. Well sheltered from NW, N, NE, W and E, but the mouth opens to the S so a southerly swell works in.

Practical

No services on the anchorage. A campsite behind the beach has a small supermarket that opens late and is thinly stocked, plus a laundry and a restaurant, reached across the campsite. Porto-Vecchio old town is about 45 minutes on foot. Water-skiing and jet skis are busy by day but the bay is calm in the evening. Marina di Fiori is 1.1 NM SW with water, electricity and fuel, but closes out of season. The quay at Quilichi lies 1.6 NM SW for a tender landing.
