Approach and anchoring

Anchor on a sand patch between the posidonia, mooring on which is prohibited, generally in 8 to 17 metres as the bottom is deep. The bay is well sheltered from the eastern sector but rolls badly from the wash of boats passing offshore even in flat calm, easing only after early evening; a south swell also works in, the prevailing bad-weather direction here.

Practical

Water available as indicated in the harbour data. Port of Cap d'Ail 1.3 nm east has 250 berths, fuel and full services. Port de Silva Maris 1.6 nm west is a smaller private harbour at Eze-sur-Mer.

Ashore

A sea cave at the head of the bay can be reached by paddle or tender. Two restaurants stand on the beach, La Reserve de la Mala among them, running a tender pick-up for around 20 euros; landing a private dinghy is restricted, so going ashore usually means their boat service. The Sentier Le Corbusier coastal path follows the shore and reaches Monaco in about an hour on foot.
