Approach and anchoring

Approach along the Agriates shoreline with care: the bottom is mixed sand and rock with patches of posidonia, so drop in a clear sand patch between the reefs and dive on the anchor if there is any doubt. The cleaner sand lies in the southern half of the bay. Fully open to N and NW, so not tenable once a tramontane or mistral kicks in. Protected from NE round to SW.

Practical

No services. The coast here belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral Agriates zone, with no road access at beach level. Nearest harbours are Île-Rousse at 6 nm SW and Saint-Florent at 10.6 nm E.

Ashore

The Sentier des Douaniers du Désert des Agriates runs behind the beach and links the coves of the Agriates on foot; the nearest landmark beach, Plage de Saleccia, is a few kilometres to the east along the trail. The whole Agriates strip is managed as a protected natural area of about 5 500 hectares.
