Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the N on a straight coastline with no offlying dangers. Anchor on sand by eye, holding is good, best on the north and east side of the cove where the bottom is clean sand, the southern edge bordering posidonia. In July and August yellow buoys are laid, reported well beyond the usual 300 m offshore, and a warden may sound a siren at boats crossing them, so anchor outside in about 7 to 10 metres; earlier in the season there are no buoys and boats can lie closer in 3 to 6 metres. Open from NW through N with a near-permanent westerly swell that turns uncomfortable when the wind shifts; sheltered from NE round to S.
Ashore
The cove sits inside the Désert des Agriates, a protected coastal zone managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral. Landing is a long tender run to the open surf beach. A track through the marshes reaches a campsite about 2 km off with a shop for bread and small supplies, a bar and food. A coastal footpath links Plage de Saleccia, roughly 3 km west on foot, and Plage du Lotu further on.
Story
The Agriates coast has no road access to most of its beaches. The sandy tracks behind Peraiola are reached only on foot, by 4x4 shuttle from Casta, or by sea.
