Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the E with the Cap d'Antibes light on the starboard bow. Bottom of sand with posidonia patches; drop on clear sand in 5 to 10 metres and check the anchor holds, as it can be patchy and slippery in the centre, with the best sand inside 10 metres nearer the beach. Sheltered from NW, W, SW and S; exposed to easterlies. Motorboat and jet-ski wash makes it roll heavily by day, calm at night apart from the odd yacht sound system.
Practical
No services at anchor. Land the dinghy at the sailing-school pontoon after asking permission, keeping to the seaward side with the engine raised as it is shallow; recycling bins are by the road. Port de la Salis lies 0.4 NM S as an alternative landing. Port Vauban in Antibes, 0.7 NM N, has fuel, water, electricity and full yard facilities.
Ashore
Plage de la Salis is a 400 m public beach on the cove itself. The sentier du littoral starts at the southern end and runs around the Cap d'Antibes past the Villa Eilenroc. The old town of Antibes, its ramparts and the Picasso Museum in the Château Grimaldi are about 1 km from the beach on foot. A Spar sits five minutes from the landing, with larger supermarkets in town, and Fort Carré stands on the point to the north.
