Approach and anchoring

Mixed bottom of sand, rock and posidonia, holding uneven, with little sand and the bottom dropping deep, so many boats anchor in around 10 m; the sand lies mostly on the east side. Shelter from NW, N, NE and W, open to the south and east. Drop on a sand patch and dive the anchor to check it is clear of the weed, and keep clear of the villas' marked mooring buoys. The cove sits on a busy offshore lane and rolls almost constantly from the wash of passing boats, so it works best as a lunch or swimming stop and calms only in the evening. Anchoring is not allowed for boats over 20 m.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Port du Croûton 1 NM to the north and Port Gallice 1.1 NM to the north-west provide fuel, water and visitor berths.

Ashore

Landing is limited to a small beach and some steps cut in the rocks, as the shore is otherwise private villas watched by guards. The Sentier du Littoral, the sentier de Tire-Poil, runs around the tip of Cap d'Antibes but does not drop to the cove; it reaches the Villa Eilenroc gardens and the Garoupe lighthouse at 73 metres, the highest point of the cape. A cliff on one side is used as a diving board, and the clear water is full of fish.
