Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east through the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio, clear of the rocks off Punta di a Chiappa to the south. Anchor on sand in 4 to 6 m with good holding, but the usable area is limited by shallows and the bottom shoals quickly towards the beach restaurants. Yellow buoys close off part of the bay. The bay is open to the east and south-east, so swell rolls in with onshore breeze and passing boats keep it lively by day. Sheltered from NW, N and W winds.

Practical

Mooring forain on sand, good holding. No shore facilities at the anchorage itself. Porto-Vecchio marina 2.8 NM NW for fuel, water and provisions.

Ashore

Short dinghy landing on the beach, which lies behind the Île de la Folaca, with beach restaurants along the shore that play music into the evening. A path over the rocks leads to Palombaggia beach. The village of Saint-Cyprien and its lagoon lie 2 NM to the south, with a long sand beach.
