Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east, staying well off the Îles Cerbicale to the south-east, a classified nature reserve. Large yellow buoys mark a 300 m limit off the beach at 5 knots, with an inner row of swim buoys, so anchor outside the swim line on sand in about 5 to 8 m and use the marked dinghy channel to reach the shore. Holding on the sand is good, one boat riding out a sudden 50 knot squall, but some rocks are not charted. The bay is wide open to E and SE swell and rolls badly, worsened by constant wash from jetskis and motorboats even in calm, so treat it as a fair-weather day stop or a settled-night anchorage that quietens in the evening.

Mooring forain on sand, with rock patches to avoid for chain wear. No services ashore at the beach. Porto-Vecchio marina 2,7 NM NW for fuel, water, chandlery and provisions.
Ashore
Palombaggia beach stretches 3 km along the anchorage, its umbrella pines lining the sand, and lies over 300 m off, reached by the dinghy channel or by swimming. Several beach restaurants run from May to September and fill up, with waiting lists for tables, while the northernmost paillote is cash only. The Îles Cerbicale reserve, 2 NM SE, restricts landing on most islets but diving is allowed outside the no-take zone.
