Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom on a gentle slope, and the anchor held firm in May 2026. Buoys mark the bathing area, so watch for them when arriving at night. In August 2022 the anchorage stayed sheltered from a 0.85 m SW swell in 20 kn of wind. A continuous, irregular S swell can roll in even without wind. Noise, probably from a wastewater plant, carried from midnight to 5 a.m. in May 2026.
Practical
Land the dinghy next to the sailing school. Restaurants and shops, including a bakery, are close by.
Ashore
Albenga old town, 1.5 km inland, keeps Roman foundations and a cluster of medieval brick towers around the cathedral square.
