Guide

Approach and anchoring

Enter Presque Isle Bay through the channel north of the peninsula, then head west along the south shore. Pass under the Bicentennial Tower skybridge with 67 feet of clearance, between the Sheraton and the Bayfront Convention Center. Vessels up to 100 feet.

Practical

40 sheltered berths plus floating dockage, water and shore power, heads with showers, laundry and a fuel berth. Phone 814-874-0698. BoatUS cooperating marina.

Ashore

Dobbins Landing and the Bicentennial Tower are at the marina entrance. The Erie Maritime Museum and the reconstructed brig Niagara, Oliver Hazard Perry's 1813 flagship, are 400 m east along the bayfront. Downtown Erie is within walking distance.

History

The marina is named after the 1844 sidewheel steamer Wolverine, formerly USS Michigan, the US Navy's first iron-hulled warship, which patrolled the Great Lakes from Erie until 1923.
