Approach and anchoring
Reached from Roanoke Sound through Broad Creek and Mill Landing Creek. The marina serves a charter fleet running offshore to the Atlantic. Diesel and ethanol-free petrol are available at the fuel berth.
Practical
Berths for charter boats and visiting craft, fish-cleaning station, bait, ice and a tackle and souvenir shop. Official North Carolina citation weigh station. The Landing Grill serves food on site from early morning to evening.
History
The village takes its name from Wanchese, a Roanoke Island leader who met the English explorers of the 1580s. It is regarded as the oldest fishing village of the Outer Banks, and the marina is the oldest locally owned marina on the islands.
