Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Golfe de la Napoule, heading WSW along the coast. Entry between two jetties, red and green lights. Maximum draught 1.8 m. Shelter good except in strong SE wind which throws swell into the basin. VHF 9.

Practical

Water and power on all pontoons. No fuel berth, nearest diesel at Port La Napoule 3 NM east. Showers and capitainerie on the quay. Small supermarket, bakery and restaurants in the village within 200 m. Train station Théoule-sur-Mer on the Marseille to Vintimille line at 400 m.

Ashore

Sentier du littoral footpath runs west from the port into the Esterel massif, red volcanic rock cliffs and creeks. Pointe de l'Aiguille nature park at 1 km, protected site of 10 hectares with three small coves. Plage de Suveret sandy beach at 500 m east of the port.

History

The Esterel cliffs of red porphyry were quarried from Roman times, supplying columns found in Lyon and Arles. The Corniche d'Or road linking Théoule to Saint-Raphaël was opened in 1903 by the Touring Club de France.
