Approach and anchoring
Located at 578 South Coast Guard Road, near the tip of Tawas Point. Tawas Bay opens to the north-west, protected by the sand spit of Tawas Point. Jerry's Marina lies 0.1 nm to the north-east, East Tawas State Dock 2.2 nm to the west. Club season runs May through September.
Practical
Private clubhouse with bar at weekends during the season, restaurant, private beach. Racing programme includes a PHRF series, family races and a J-22 fleet. July Regatta and Venetian Night Festival in September.
Ashore
Tawas Point Lighthouse stands at the tip of the spit, built in 1876 to mark the entry to the bay. Tawas Point State Park covers 74 hectares with a designated bird-watching area, often called the Cape Cod of the Midwest. A 22 km walking and cycle path runs along the lakeshore from Alabaster to the lighthouse.
History
Founded in 1897, the club is one of the older yacht clubs on the Great Lakes. It has run continuous racing programmes on Tawas Bay for over a century.
