Guide
Approach and anchoring
The mooring sits on a sand and mud bottom, sheltered from the north-west round through north and west to south-west, and open to the east and south-east across Quincy Bay. Moorings in Quincy waters are assigned through the Harbor Master, and the marked channels of Boston Harbour lead in from the north.
Practical
Safe Harbor Marina Bay lies 1.2 nm to the west, with berths and waterfront dining, and the entrance to Marina Bay carries a least depth of 14 feet at low water. Port Norfolk Yacht Club is 1.7 nm to the west.
History
Squantum was the site of Naval Air Station Squantum, a naval airfield from the First World War era until its closure in 1954. The Marina Bay development now occupies part of the former base and the adjacent Victory Destroyer Plant.
