Approach and anchoring
The mooring area sits in Dorchester Bay, sheltered from north-west through south-west by the South Boston shoreline. The bottom is mud with good holding. Approach from the main harbour channel; the bay is open to the east toward Thompson Island.
Practical
The club stands at 1849 Columbia Road and can be reached on 617 268 6132. Members hold their own moorings, so visiting boats should call ahead. Safe Harbor Marina Bay lies 1.7 miles south and Savin Hill Yacht Club 1.6 miles south-west, both with further berthing.

The South Boston Yacht Club was founded in 1868, among the first twenty yacht clubs established in the United States.
