Approach and anchoring
The marina lies just inside Big Pass, with direct access to Sarasota Bay and a short run out to the Gulf of Mexico. Fixed docks, approach depth about 16 ft and dockside depth about 10 ft, suiting larger power and sailing yachts.
Practical
Marina of 110 berths, including a handful of transient berths for visiting members. Shore power and fresh water at the berths, secure parking, and a clubhouse with dining, a heated pool and a fitness centre. Membership is by invitation; visiting yachts must arrange access in advance.
History
Boaters first organised a club at Sarasota in 1907 under Harry Higel. The present Sarasota Yacht Club was incorporated on 21 June 1926, and its fleet of Fish Class boats won the Florida West Coast Fleet Championship in 1933. A new 23,000 sq ft clubhouse opened in 2010.
