Anchorage off Golden Gate Point, a peninsula on Sarasota Bay one block from downtown Sarasota, on the Florida Gulf coast.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reach the bay through the Sarasota approach from the Intracoastal Waterway, passing under the John Ringling Causeway bridge. The seabed is weed, so set the anchor with care and check that it has bitten. The anchorage is sheltered from north-west through south-east and open to the west.
Practical
Marina Jack Yacht Basin lies about 0.4 miles east with berths, fuel and a harbour master's office. Bird Key Yacht Club is roughly 0.8 miles south-west. Downtown Sarasota shops and provisioning are within walking distance of the Marina Jack landing.
Ashore
Bayfront Park borders Marina Jack with a waterfront walk into central Sarasota. Lido Key beaches are a short hop across the bay by tender or road, past St Armands Circle and its shops.
