Approach and anchoring
Cross the Yaquina Bay bar between the jetties; check conditions with USCG on VHF 16. The marina lies on the north shore just east of the Yaquina Bay Bridge. All transient vessels must check in at the Port Admin Building, 600 SE Bay Boulevard, on 541 265 7758.
Practical
Multiple docks with berths from 26 to 80 feet, plus over 4,000 feet of side ties for larger vessels. 75-foot hoist berth between the west and east berths. Englund Marine chandlery on site. Fuel, water and pump-out at the Port's fuel berth nearby.
Ashore
Newport Historic Bayfront with restaurants and seafood markets adjacent. Oregon Coast Aquarium and Hatfield Marine Science Center across the bridge in South Beach, about 1.5 miles by road. Yaquina Head Lighthouse 4 miles north, completed in 1873 and the tallest in Oregon.
History
Newport has been a working fishing harbour since the late 19th century. The port grew through the 20th century into Oregon's leading seafood landing, with the NOAA Marine Operations Center Pacific basing its research fleet here since 2011.
