Access by the lake only, no tidal constraint. Shallow sandy bottom common to the basin. Approach clear in calm weather, watch for gusts channeled over the pine forest in westerly winds.

Refuges nearby: Port Siblu at Gastes at 1.3 NM SW and Moutéou at 2.4 NM NE. Village of Gastes close to the port with basic shops.
Ashore
Cycle path of the Vélodyssée passes through Gastes, linking the lake to Mimizan and the Atlantic coast. Shore of the lake with sand beach for bathing.
