Approach and anchoring
Access via the Gironde estuary and the Garonne, roughly 50 nautical miles from the mouth. Current runs strong, up to 3 knots on the ebb. Entry through the lock gates of the Bassin à Flot n 2, opening window around high water. Call the capitainerie on VHF 12 before arrival.
Practical
278 pontoon berths in a floating basin, water, electricity, showers, Wi-Fi. No fuel berth on site. Tram line B stops 200 m from the pontoons, linking the full city centre in 10 minutes.
Ashore
La Cite du Vin wine museum at 400 m on the quay. UNESCO-listed Port de la Lune waterfront stretches 2 km south along the Garonne, with the Place de la Bourse and its water mirror at 2.5 km. Les Halles de Bacalan covered market at 300 m.
History
The Port de la Lune, the crescent-shaped bend of the Garonne through Bordeaux, has been listed by UNESCO since 2007 as an outstanding urban and port ensemble of the 18th century.
