Approach and anchoring
Access from the Loire via the Saint-Félix lock, which separates the Erdre from the Loire at downtown Nantes. The lock operates on set schedules set by the Voies Navigables de France. Once above the lock the river is slack water with no tidal range. Maximum draught 1.4 m. VHF channel 9 for the harbour office.
Practical
50 berths on pontoons with water and electricity. Fuel berth on site. Sanitary block with showers. Nantes city centre is reachable on foot or by tram line 2 along the quai Ceineray.
Ashore
Jardin des Plantes botanical garden at 600 m from the pontoons. Machines de l'Île, home of the mechanical Great Elephant, on the Île de Nantes at 2 km. Castle of the Dukes of Brittany at 1 km, free entry to the ramparts.
History
The Erdre was connected to the Loire at Nantes by canal works completed in 1929 with the covering of the old Erdre bed under the cours des 50-Otages. The Saint-Félix lock, built between 1932 and 1936, regulates the river level and protects the city from Loire floods.
