Small wet harbour on the right bank of the Aven estuary, in the commune of Névez, 1.2 NM upstream from Port Manec'h.

Approach and anchoring

Enter the Aven from the SW between Pointe de Beg Porz and Pointe de Penquernéo, following the buoyed channel. Strong ebb on springs, up to 3 knots in the narrows. Kerdruc is reached on a bend of the river, with pontoons on the east bank. VHF 9.

Practical

Around 200 moorings on fore-and-aft buoys in the river, plus a short visitors pontoon at the quay. Water at the quay, no fuel. Dinghy pontoon and slipway. One restaurant on the wooden quay, small grocery in Névez village 2 km inland.

Ashore

Riverside path along the Aven leads down to Port Manec'h and its sandy beach in 45 minutes on foot. The Chaos du Pouldu, a granite boulder field, is reached by a marked path from Rosbras, 0.1 NM across the river. Pont-Aven, the artists' town, lies 7 km upstream by road.

History

Kerdruc was a small cargo quay until the early 20th century, shipping pit props and sand. The painter Henry Moret, a follower of Gauguin, settled nearby in the 1890s and painted the Aven river several times.
