Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south in settled weather. No buoyage on the anchorage itself. Shallow shelving bottom, sound in for a spot clear of bathers in season. Exposed to winds from the SE round to the SW, including swell from the Gulf of Lion.
Practical
No services on site. Port Gardian lies 1 nm to the west and the harbour of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is 2.3 nm to the west for fuel, water and provisions. Daytime stop only when the mistral is not forecast.
Ashore
Beach landing by tender gives direct access to the seafront of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, the fortified church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer about 1 km west, and the start of the Digue a la Mer coastal dyke running east into the Camargue Regional Nature Park towards the Etang du Fangassier flamingo site.
