Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from offshore. Sand and mud bottom with good holding. Protected from W, SW, S and SE, so usable in easterly and northerly weather only. The whole west coast of Oléron is exposed to Atlantic swell and becomes untenable as soon as the wind backs into the western sector.
Practical
No services. Daytime anchorage in settled weather. Nearest shelter is the dry harbour of Mus de Loup at 2.6 nm E and the port of Saint-Trojan-les-Bains at 3 nm N.
Ashore
The beach backs onto the Forêt domaniale de Saint-Trojan, a coastal pine forest crossed by marked walking trails and the Oléron cycle network. The little tourist train of Saint-Trojan runs through the dunes to the beach in season. Saint-Trojan village has shops, oyster stalls and a Thursday morning market.
